X-Rays

If a child's mouth is to develop and grow properly, the first (primary) teeth must be healthy. Please realize that radiographs (X-rays) are essential for us to thoroughly examine the dental health of your child and to properly diagnose any abnormalities. We use Computer Digital Radiography (CDR) for most of our X-rays. This type of radiography requires 90 percent less radiation than conventional film X-rays. CDR images are instantaneous, therefore no time is wasted waiting on processing.

In addition to our regular radiographs, a special panoramic x-ray to determine the position and growth of teeth and jaws may be necessary. The appropriate times for panoramic x-rays are approximately ages 6, 9, 12 for all children and 15 for girls and 16 for boys. X-rays are always kept to a minimum, taken with several precautions, and only when necessary!
